"Mourning Ghismunda" by Bernardino Mei
This porcelain plate features the stunning "Mourning Ghismunda" by Bernardino Mei.
Ghismunda, of royal breeding, was in love with Guiscardo, a servant and page in the court of Ghismunda's father, Prince Tancred of Salerno. When Ghismunda's father discovered that Guiscardo and Ghismunda had secretly wed, he ordered his men to murder the low-born Guiscardo and had his heart delivered to Ghismunda in a golden cup. Despite having committed to die without shedding a tear, she weeps as she realizes her father has murdered her husband. She adds poison to the cup containing Guiscardo's heart, and commits suicide by drinking it.
All of our porcelain is kiln fired to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit to permanently fuse the image to the plate or cup, ensuring there will be no wear, fading or flaking, even after prolonged use.
The image is food- and dishwasher safe, we do recommend hand washing if your plate or cup contains gold. Dishes with gold details cannot be microwaved, they will spark.

ABOUT OUR IMAGES:
The technology we use is also employed when creating outside tile murals or even tiles that go on the bottom of swimming pools. This means that, in contrast to heat sublimation or transfers, your image will never wear, scratch, or fade, even with everyday use. The finish is a beautiful high gloss. All ink used is completely food safe, it does not contain lead or other harmful chemicals.
